Frequently asked questions
ABOUT WOLKAT
Wolkat currently collects textiles through municipalities and in stores in the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark.
The Wolkat factories are located in Tangier, Morocco. You can read why we are there in the blog “Morocco, why there?”
In the R&D department Wolkat works on improving our sorting process, mechanical recycling process and production process. We develop and improve our yarns, fabrics and products. We are also involved in (European) projects and legislation development on circular textiles.
If you are interested in working with Wolkat, we can always meet and show you our location and showroom in Tilburg. With an established and long-term partnership, customers are also welcome at our locations in Morocco. Unfortunately, we cannot do this with every contact or with every customer due to time and disruption to our running production.
You can deposit your textiles in a textile container in your municipality. Unfortunately, Wolkat cannot accept textiles from each individual separately.
Unfortunately, we currently have no internship or graduation places available. If this is the case in the future, we will let you know.
You can send the invoices to administratie@wolkat.com.
ABOUT OUR PROCESS
Wolkat does not use dyes or water in the mechanical recycling process. In addition, we use non-reusable textiles as input material of our circular process.
Wolkat recycles post-consumer textiles that are not suitable for the second-hand market. We fiberize this material and mix it with other fibers to make the yarn strong enough. Our product is therefore not 100% circular, but it is partially.
After we have sorted out the reusable clothing and open loop and closed loop products, approximately 4% residual waste is left. These are plastic bags or wet and highly contaminated textiles. The division between reusable, recycling and residual waste can be found at the bottom of this page: https://wolkat.com.
ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS
Wolkat often makes woven and knitted products such as bags, tea towels, aprons, pillowcases and clothing. You can find the products that we have in our collection via this link: https://products.wolkat.com/#Collection .

In principle, Wolkat works business to business, we work together with Zeeman and Nike, among others, so we do not sell products directly to consumers. A store opened in December 2023 where we sell some of our leftover products. See https://weightogo.nl/winkel/.
FOR MUNICIPALITIES
Wolkat offers municipalities a transparent collection system in which we indicate per collection what percentage we can sort out for reuse, for recycling and as residual waste. In addition, we process the collected goods as circular as possible, taking the R-Ladder into account.
This varies per municipality and depends on the quality of the goods collected.
Wolkat itself controls the steps from the collection of post-consumer textiles to the processing into new yarn. This happens in our own factories in the Netherlands and Morocco. This is a transparent process and we can therefore clearly show what happens to the textile.
Wolkat currently does not offer social workplaces.
FOR BRANDS
Wolkat is the only company in the world that offers the different steps in the circular textile chain, from collection to production of circular products that can be sold again in the store.
Wolkat only sells business to business. Wolkat usually supplies an assembled textile product, but in some exceptions also yarn or textile.
Due to years of experience with circular processing of textiles, Wolkat can advise and assist in making circular products.
Wolkat can certainly help with this, because we take care of the collection of discarded textiles as well as offering products with recycled content.
FOR RETAILERS
Wolkat can be a circular partner for retailers that takes care of both the collection of discarded textiles in the store and the supply of products with circular recycled content. The circular products can be sold again in the retail store.
Drop & Loop is part of the Wolkat group and takes care of the collection of discarded textiles in (retail) stores.
Wolkat can supply circular products that can be sold in your store. The products that we have as standard in our range can be found via: https://products.wolkat.com/#Collection. Custom-made products can also be developed for larger quantities.
Wolkat can certainly help with this, because we can take care of the collection of discarded textiles as well as offering products with recycled content.
